Neuroplasticity: Extending Health Span for 1 in 2 Americans

Neurological challenges now affect more than 180 million Americans — 1 in 2 people — and have become the leading

cause of disability in the United States.

As lifespans continue to increase, the absolute number of people facing these conditions is rising steadily, making the ability to address the challenges more urgent than ever. In the face of this growing reality, neuroplasticity delivers real hope. The brain’s remarkable ability to adapt and rewire means meaningful recovery and improvement are still possible — whether after a stroke or traumatic brain injury, in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, MS, and Parkinson’s, with epilepsy, chronic pain, migraines, or developmental conditions such as autism and ADHD. As we extend our lifespan, neuroplasticity is essential to ensuring our healthspan grows alongside it.

The Challenge of Changing Healthcare Systems

While the science is clear and producing remarkable results, transforming healthcare takes time. Most physicians practicing today received minimal training on the brain’s capacity to change, because medical education and care models were built around an older view of the brain as largely fixed. Many long-standing approaches are now being thoughtfully re-evaluated. These are the natural growing pains of a true paradigm shift. NPA aims to accelerate this transition so those who need it most benefit more quickly.

The Neuroplasticity Alliance: Turning Science Into Real Help

At the Neuroplasticity Alliance, we turn this powerful science into real, practical help. We help support the translation of this breakthrough research into accessible solutions so that individuals and families living with neurological conditions don’t have to wait — empowering, effective neuroplasticity-based care can begin today.

We connect people with the latest therapies, research, education, and support. Our goal is simple: make neuroplasticity-based care easy to find and use — so more people can experience meaningful recovery and a better quality of life.
