For over twenty years, Dorothy Henning has worked internationally at the intersection of movement, neuroscience, and hands on clinical and community practice, helping people regulate their nervous systems and support meaningful functional change. As a Feldenkrais® Method of Somatic Education Practitioner, she integrates neuroscience informed movement and attentional processes grounded in principles of physics, biomechanics, and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. All to support nervous system adaptability and self-regulation through all stages of life.
After completing her Feldenkrais studies in Switzerland and a degree in Physiology of Sports Education in France, Dorothy opened her private practice in Strasbourg, France. There, she served the community for more than ten years, working with high level competitive athletes to support injury recovery and performance beyond previous limitations, as well as with people living with neurological challenges. She also collaborated with the Strasbourg Ludica Center, working with individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury and stroke.
Now living and practicing in Louisville, Kentucky, Dorothy collaborates with Norton Neuroscience Institute by teaching Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® that supports learning through movement, nervous system regulation, and functional improvement for people living with neurological conditions, including MS, Parkinson’s disease, post stroke, neuropathy, and traumatic brain injury. She also works individually with clients in her private practice, tailoring her approach to support self-regulation, movement learning, and adaptive change.
At the core of Dorothy’s work is neuroplasticity, the brain’s capacity to change, form new neural connections, and reorganize itself through experience. This principle informs her approach to helping people regulate their nervous systems, improve movement, and develop greater resilience, even after injury, illness, or neurological challenges. Havening Techniques® further informs her work through a neuroscience based approach that uses touch, attention, and imagination to support adaptive processing of experience.
Dorothy is the founder and creator of the My Move worldwide online community and VIP Aspire Premium. Across all of her work, she brings together mindful movement, neuroscience, and a practice of radical self-kindness, recognizing that safety, curiosity, and compassion are essential conditions for learning and neuroplastic change. Through this approach, she helps people expand choice, move beyond trauma patterns, and live the life they want with greater ease, agency, and confidence.
